Press Release: New HMA president hopes to gain big momentum for the Heights
The Heights Merchants Association BIA is pleased to announce that the election of a new Board of Directors and a new Executive, including in-coming president Rishel Tomlinson, owner of Custom Mortgages.
The new Executive was elected at the Oct. 13 Board meeting.
Four new Board members also joined the fold at the September AGM. They include Nelson Chow from GNK Insurance, John Latrofa from Caffe Lafontana, Ann Pollak from Ann Pollak Law Office, and Mariana Troeva-Katova, Notary Public.
“Four new Board members mark a fresh influx of ideas and enthusiasm,” said Isabel Kolic, executive director of the Heights Merchants Association. “We’re so excited to see these new faces around our table, and we’re eager to translate that new energy into projects and success stories.”
Tomlinson, too, looks forward to creating strong forward movement for the Association. “I want my term as president to be about building momentum for the Heights. I love this neighbourhood and I’m passionate about making it the best that it can be.”
Tomlinson is the HMA’s ninth president, and one of the youngest presidents to lead the Board. She is an independent mortgage broker who moved both her residence and her company to the Heights almost four years ago because of its central location and strong community. She is an avid runner and is currently training for Ironman 2011.
The HMA is also grateful to out-going president Mabel Wisniewski for her valuable contribution. Wisniewski remains on the Board as immediate past-president. The HMA also thanks departing Board members Grace Pagnanini from Pagnanini Edwards Lam Chartered Accountants, Ray Lord from Chevron Canada, and Peter Ferreira from Dance Addicts, for their work with the Association.
